GOOD - TriStar Raptor Field
The TriStar is a great budget option for Turkey hunting. They come with a choke in place and there are multiple sub-models available including many youth options. These models are available in either 12 or 20-gauge. They come in synthetic or camo patterns. TriStar is a great option for budget-minded folks who may be starting out or just looking to add an affordable firearm to their collection. For under $500 you can have a great setup that doesn’t break the bank. Coming in at 7lbs you can explore without breaking your back as well. Performance varies depending on the ammunition used. Set up for 3” shells.
BETTER - Mossberg 835 & Remington 870
How can one pick between legends? Some folks really want the option for 3.5” shells and a step up to either the Mossberg or Remington will give you that option. While the Mossberg is limited to a 12-gauge option you can get the Remington in either a 12 or 20. Both of these firearms are available at the same price point, and both offer great value! The best bet is stop in to one of our locations, pick up each, and see what you think, but you can’t go wrong with either. You can usually pick one of these up for around $500 and ask about our used and consignment firearms if you really want a bargain.
BEST - Weatherby Element Turkey
The Weatherby is only being slightly more expensive than the 835 or 870, coming in at around $700 depending on options. the Weatherby feels great in the hands! The Element model comes in either 12 or 20-gauge with a 22” barrel. It is built to run modern 2 ¾” and 3” magnum loads and comes with choke options.
Premiere - Beretta A400
The Berretta A400 Xtreme is a shotgun that is extremely capable, looks amazing, and it’s a great match for upland, waterfowl, or turkey. This shotgun comes with a variety of chokes and is capable of shooting 3.5 shells if you prefer. This gun is known for cycling extremely fast and reliably. With rubberized grips, an oversized loading port, an extended charging handle, and an oversized bolt release mean this gun is easily operable even when wearing gloves in those super cold temperatures. The barrel has 3 length options, 26”, 28”, or 30”. These are priced around $1700, but can climb a bit depending on the options chosen. Prized for its longevity and performance, you can expect to own this firearm for a long time.
